A team made up of Henry Boot colleagues and friends embarked on the demanding Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June, raising money for two vital charities – The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and Place2Be.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves a round trip route spanning 24 miles (38.6km), featuring an ascent of 1,585 metres (5,200ft) across the peaks of Pen-y-Ghen (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres).
On 23 June, the team of 17 banded together to take on the challenge and raise funds for our two chosen mental wellbeing charities – and they have now surpassed the target of £10,000.
We have a strong working partnership with The Lighthouse Charity, whose work involves providing emotional, physical and financial support for construction workers and their families.
Henry Boot Construction Director, Ryan O'Loughlin has been a Trustee of the charity since 2021 and has now worked with them on several initiatives to help raise funds. The services they provide to support industry workers include phone and messaging helplines, a self-support app and mental health awareness training.
The money raised will also go to support another of our chosen charity partners, Place2Be.
Place2Be works with schools to enhance the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of children and young individuals during their crucial formative years. By offering support during these early developmental stages, the charity helps prevent life-long mental health issues and equips children to overcome challenges throughout their lives, ensuring they can reach their full potential.
