Company History

The formation of the Henry Boot company goes back over 125 years when local farmer’s son Henry Boot started his one man construction business in 1886 to carry out modest jobbing work in the Sheffield and surrounding area. He rapidly expanded and was soon undertaking large scale public works and housing projects throughout the country.

The business continued to flourish as Henry’s son Charles became more involved, and together they built the foundations of our company’s proud and colourful history. Henry retained an active interest until his death in 1931.
